SULAIMANI — JD Vance said on Thursday that a 10-point proposal submitted during ongoing discussions was swiftly dismissed by U.S. officials, claiming it appeared to have been generated by ChatGPT, underscoring rising tensions and confusion surrounding the negotiation process.

“The first 10-point proposal was something that was submitted, and we frankly think it was probably written by ChatGPT,” Vance said in remarks that signaled frustration within the administration. “It immediately went into the garbage and was rejected.”

Vance added that a second proposal, also structured around ten points, was viewed more favorably by U.S. officials and emerged from direct exchanges with representatives from Pakistan.

“There was a second 10-point proposal that was much more reasonable,” he said. “It was based on some back-and-forth between us and the Pakistanis. That is the proposal the president was referencing, and it’s true as of yesterday.”

However, Vance said a third version has since surfaced, describing it as even more hardline than the initial draft. According to him, the document has been circulating across social media platforms, raising concerns about misinformation and the lack of clarity in ongoing diplomatic efforts.

“And then, frankly, I’ve seen a third 10-point proposal that’s even more maximalist than the first one that’s been floating around various social media channels,” Vance said.

The emergence of multiple competing proposals highlights the fragmented nature of the talks, with officials offering few details about the substance of the plans or the parties involved in drafting them.

Analysts say the public rejection of a proposal allegedly linked to artificial intelligence marks a rare moment in modern diplomacy, where digital tools and information warfare increasingly intersect with high-stakes negotiations.

“This is highly unusual,” said one Washington-based policy expert. “To publicly dismiss a proposal as AI-generated raises serious questions about credibility, authorship, and the integrity of the negotiation process.”

The White House did not elaborate on the contents of any of the proposals, nor did it confirm whether formal negotiations are ongoing or at what stage they currently stand.

Officials in Islamabad have not publicly responded to Vance’s remarks.

The episode comes amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty, where unofficial drafts, leaks, and online narratives are playing an increasingly prominent role in shaping public perception and diplomatic momentum.
